This is the day and age of packaging! Quality products do sell well, but to give them that creative edge, they need to be packaged well. For example a great tasting tea will always be bought, but if it’s sold as cleverly packaged as this butterfly tea bag, then you give it that creative edge to be bought by the curious minds and impulse shoppers.

It’s a sporkife! No wait… a knoork??  Whatever it is, this curious-looking cutlery design was created with respect to the logical order in which people might eat their food. The hybrid spoon/knife/fork is first used as a spoon to consume side dishes before being broken at the perforation to form a separate knife and fork for cutting protein items. While the disposable object is still made of plastic, it generates less waste than other plastic cutlery sets.

Ok, here’s a thought, we often repeat certain steps or patterns while cooking, especially near the sink area. So how about organizing ourselves so that the steps are easy and quick to follow. For example steps like washing food, putting food into containers, cleaning the chopping board, etc can be minimized as we draw connections between each action to simplify the workflow, we will work more efficiently.

This kitchen sink system has four key features that make it stand out in the market. Firstly, the layout is based on different functions that help us to easily access different functional areas. Secondly, the colander/container set and cutting board can be placed in different positions over the sink. This provides flexibility in how things are arranged in the working area. Thirdly, as stated, the specially designed containers can be stacked along the rim of the cutting board. Fourthly, in order to service the different task areas, the faucet is placed in the centre of the sink.

Simple Life Starts From The Kitchen is a 2012 red dot award: design concept winner.

Who hasn’t dreamt of laying on the clouds?! This playful seating collection called Cirrus brings the fluffy stuff indoors in a whimsical series of gentle sofas and lounges. As comfortable as they look, each piece is composed with a rigid OSB frame and sinuous spring system in the seat and back surrounded by flexible PUR foam so it keeps shape without sacrificing comfort.

The XXXVI DG doesn’t fold, it has no electric motor, no phone charger or place to put an iPad, it can’t fly and it’s not an amphibious vehicle. It is, however… a bicycle with two wheels, gears, pedals and a frame. It was inspired by the purest form of the bike and simply applies traditional construction with modern materials to maximize the basics of a design that’s worked for over a century. It’s not going to be the fastest, smoothest, or even the most advanced…but it is… TIMELESS!

The Nature Speaker is a simple perch shaped like a loudspeaker of sorts. It not only offers a safe haven for the little birds but also amplifies their chirps for you to enjoy. I know of many places that use these artificial bird sounds to create a soothing environment. Well, nothing tops nature; so this Nature Speakeris the best.

You would think that too many designers would end up making a huge mess of their project, however this enterprising bunch of students from Sejong University in South Korea, surprise us with their creativity. Called the GAZIGOGADA or The Carry Home Project, the concept addresses the needs of a budget traveler, especially students who like to participate in various events but don’t have funds to cover all expenses. They summarize the concept of “We don’t have a house. We bring our own house.”

Have a look at the brilliant video before exploring the project.

The Ecologic Aircraft by designer Daphnis Fournier aims to be the first fully electric passenger plane, utilizing an inflatable structure above the main cabin that contains flexible photovoltaic panels to collect solar energy while flying above the clouds. For efficiency during take-off (when the most power is lost) the “balloon” remains flat, inflating only after reaching a maximum altitude.

This E-inkey Keyboard Concept is pretty awesome if you ask me. Imagine using e-ink screens as keyboard buttons that allow us to use different layouts and customize keys as per our needs or program we are using at that moment! The use of E-ink technology gives it the power saving edge as well as the option of being wireless. Simply love it, what about you?

This original seating design called Statthocker transforms old-fashioned 1960s street lanterns into modern, stackable stools that pay homage to the repurposed material. Noticing that local discarded lanterns were the perfect seat height, the designers covered the tops in durable HI-MACS material and left the underside open for easy stacking. As an ode to the origin, LED lights are fitted into a milled recess beneath the seat, bringing new life and functionality to the recycled shades.

The Eco Clip makes it possible to compose your own notebooks by recycling old drafts, clippings, or any other paper. The innovative design works with various sizes and paper thicknesses by simply folding the sheets at the edge and binding. It’s easy to create journals, doodle-pads, or custom presentations for use at home or the office. More importantly, there’s lest waste by reusing both paper and the plastic binder.
