This cute cactus-shaped toothpick container is by Danish company Essey, which espouses something called Symbolic Functionalism, or the concept of using metaphors to suggest an object’s function. “It is about giving objects a soul, an identity and letting them communicate this to us…let the products speak.” Well, this toothpick holder is telling us that pressing down on it when it’s closed will result in the top slowly rising to reveal the toothpicks inside. Cute indeed.
