If you’re a graphic design studio interested in branching out into the fashion world, you might come up with something as clever as this microfiber suede scarf, featuring Helvetica letters. The Hong Kong-based studio, Little Factory, which made its name by specializing in pixel graphics, has taken a page from China’s paper-cutting folk artists to create a graphic fashion statement using laser-cut technology—and the results are typographically impressive.

As for why Helvetica was chosen over other typefaces, designer Dennis Wong points to its simplicity and worldwide recognition: “It is one of the most widely used typefaces. And we like the way the neutrality of Helvetica enables us to focus on the design as a whole.” Spoken like someone who knows his Helvetica.
